First Prayer

Do you remember your first prayer?
I do, I was in the third grade.
My prayer was simple and repetitive.
"Oh God, please don't let the teacher call on me!

Please don't let the teacher call on me!!!"

You see, the teacher was calling on students to go up to the board and work out math problems.
I didn't have a clue how to do them.
I had already been spanked in school the year before for not having a clue,
so I was really scared.
That's where my memory ends...

I still don't have a clue about a lot of things- including math.
I'm also still pretty simple in my prayers.
But I do know that God hears my cry and He hears yours, too.

Holly, I don't remember my first prayer. I hardly ever prayed as a child though, because I didn't grow up in a Christian home and God was hardly ever mentioned.

You are such an inspiration to me, Holly. You heart is so full of love for God and every word brings Him glory. I'm so glad I can stop by here and be refreshed this way.

Hugs, :)

Oh, thank you, Melody! Ha-ha, I don't feel very encouraging lately and I'm battling discouragement big time today...

Thanks for the hug!

Sorry your household has illness too. Prayers are lifted up for you.

Thanks, Gin!
I want to keep this illness in the proper light- His light. This will be but a flash in the pan but at the moment it seems a bit too big...

I guess I could have said that I'm not positive that was my first prayer- but it's the first one I remember. I certainly wasn't taught prayer at home...

My hubby is our home school math teacher. It comes so easy for him and he's the only one in our family that is good at it!

Thanks for coming by!

Hi Holly,
Hmmm... my first prayer must have been at bedtime with my mom when I was failry young. I don't remember what she said, but it sticks out in my mind that she would pray with us at night as consistently as possible.
Spanking a student for a mistake sounds awful! I bet you were very fervent about your prayer.

Hi, Jessica!

How wonderful for you to have had a mom that prayed! My mom didn't come to know the Lord until after I left home...

Yes, I think that spanking I received for my ignorance (not laziness)caused a mental block for me in Math that I'm yet to overcome. Good thing there is more to life than math! Ha-ha!

Thanks for coming by! I love company!
